Travis Head returns strongly

As Australia thrashed Pakistan in the series opener in Lahore, Travis Head marked his first one-day international game since November 2018 with a dashing century. Head shined in Lahore after being given an opportunity at the pinnacle of the request without David Warner, who was one of a few players rested for the three ODIs following their popular Test series win.

Travis Head celebrates his century

He was dismissed for 101 off 72 deliveries - two balls after reaching his century - which laid the groundwork for Australia's 313-7 and helped them to an agreeable 88-run victory.

Australia's total could have been higher, as they raced to 171 for one wicket before Head walked out halfway through the innings, leaving the travelers unable to put together a cohesive team.

Nonetheless, Ben McDermott's 55 and Cameron Green's unbroken 40 off 30 balls propelled Australia past 300, and Pakistan fell soon after, having appeared to be set on 124 for one after 24 overs.

Swepson's similar leg-spinner Adam Zampa took 4 for 38, with Head's off-breaks yielding 2 for 35, and keeping in mind that Pakistan had a chance with Imam-ul-Haq at the crease, that chance dissipated while the initial player was fortified for 103 by a yorker from Nathan Ellis, another ODI debutant.

After 45.2 overs, Pakistan succumbed to Australia for the first time in the series, which resumes on Thursday at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Indeed, it was a great day for Travis Head surely.
